Niche Design & Construction were engaged to carry out a major renovation to this classic A-Frame residential home in Lake Hawea, near Wanaka.
The client wished to create more space within the home to accommodate their growing extended family. The scope of works for the build included demolition of existing 2 dormer windows, essentially stripping the house back to its original framing and replacing the structural beams, building 5 new dormer windows, installing a new kitchen and 3 new bathrooms.
Externally a rear patio was removed and replaced with decking, a new patio established on the ground floor and new decks on to replace the existing decks on the upper 2 floors. The major part of the project took about 4 months, with the external works carrying on after the internal completion.
This was a technical, large-scale renovation that required detailed planning and forethought. As the builder and project manager, Kawhata was highly involved at all stages of the build process.
A word from our amazing client:
“Kawhata and his team were fantastic to work with, and an understanding of what we were looking to achieve was quickly established. Decisions were made as required, and workmanship was to the highest standard. I am more than happy to endorse Kawhata and Amy’s business, and quite happy to put my name to it.”
